Do you know why I love scraps? Even after 20 plus years of patchwork, I still hesitate to cut into a beautiful new piece of fabric, especially if it was expensive ( to my budget). So projects stall because of my nerves. But with scraps, crumbs, leftover pieces of fabric … I have already used them. They are going to go to waste if I don’t make them into something beautiful or useful. So, there is no stress when I sew with scraps I am saving them and if I make a mistake there is no pressure or feeling of distress.
This week I have been back at school. lots of thinking and planning and constant mental pressure so I needed my home time to be less thinking and more producing, So I pulled out a bag of quilted scraps. All foam bits from a variety of projects. No rhyme or reason to the colour selection, just combined by size and I joined them to make a new piece of crazy fabric. I don’t know yet, what it will become, but my mind relaxed and I cleared up a part of an overfull bag of pieces. I really do love the freedom sewing with scraps gives me!
Be well everyone.

I always find it is better to have a go when there are others out there combating the same things. Good luck with yours. Show us what you make. I would love to see.
